So many phonics-based readers were incredibly boring and my kids do not respond well to boring. Back when I went to elementary school Dick and Jane books were used. I loved those books and read them multiple times for fun.

The students will also meet someone from Scholastic Electronic Publishing who specializes in multimedia product adaptations of printed texts.
October Volume 3 Number 2 Redefining Literacy. Although I don't remember deriving any great pleasure from the overly simplified story lines, I do remember them fondly because I was able to easily master reading them. I also held them in respect, because they were published works and looked more professional than stories I wrote and illustrated on my own.
These books taught a couple generations how to read, crafted dreams of gentle suburban bliss, and in the process became immediately recognizable cultural icons. When people get all excited about the Dick and Jane series, you know it's nostalgia and long-lost memories they're after. While these books also chronicle an era, I'll bet most customers want them for memories of the little light bulb that clicked as they learned to read with Dick, Jane, Sally, and Spot.
